Under construction with friends

We convinced our good friend, dentist and resident handyman, "Dr. Shane - sugar-bug killer", as he is affectionately called by the kids, to help us build a    kennel for our dog Emma! We lured Shane to our house - under the false pretences of a halibut diner that - by the way has yet to be produced- and told him our plan to incarcerate the pooch who digs up our sprinklers. Despite the lack of halibut, Shane agreed to help us.

Step 1: We all watched while Shane worked

Step 2: Kevin gives it a try - tapping gingerly.

Step 3: I don't even have words for this step.

The fence took more time to create than we thought so Shane came back on Friday - this time with reinforcements - His wife Larissa and his 3 kids. This was wonderful of course and I rolled out the lawn chairs so we could all watch .... Only Larissa had other plans :

We/she cleaned out a yucky frog and mouse infested shed and we loaded up her truck and went to the dump. And so began Fridays Adventures of Larissa and Sonya.

Needless to say, we were the only "ladies" at the dump - except for this one guy!!!

My enthusiastic friend!!

It takes a good friend to helps you dump your garbage like this!!!

Next stop- Rona - to buy 16 2x4's. No wait, make that one 16x2x4. Who's counting anyways???  Larissa carried it proudly through the parking lot. The little flag she stapled on the end waving in the wind.

By now it was getting late and back at the ranch we had seven kids and two men to feed. Back into mommy mode, we head to the pizza place with flagged wood dragging from our van (the reeked of garbage).

The afternoon was equally relaxing. Lawn chairs and tea??? No! We raided a shed full of toxic paint and murionic acid and took it to the hazardous waste store. Good news right?  No, it was too hazardous and we had to bring it back home and open the lids to let it evaporate. Oops! Our husbands luckily discovered our little evaporation experiment   and closed it down, all the while explaining the rules of spontaneous combustion to us.

It was truly a fun and productive day.

  1. It still makes me laugh to think about Friday. Who knew hauling garbage to the dump and going to Rona could be so fun! How come there are no pictures of us drinking Perrier on the way to the dump?!?! We were so classy!!!
